Oct. '87 to June '94 - Staff editing position included department supervisory duties, photo editing/assigning and coordination of internship program. (Represented photo department in weekend editorial meetings.) Staff photography position included news, feature, sports assignments, and long-term projects often with extensive travel. Frequently wrote text to accompany projects. (Awarded staff honors in 1992 Pulitzer Prize for coverage of Northridge earthquake; self-generated project on minor league baseball nominated by LA Times editors for entry in 1994 Pulitzer Prize competition.)

BIOGRAPHY:
Tammy Lechner is a founding partner of STILL Productions, Inc and has produced photography, writing and editing for numerous editorial and corporate clients including the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Associated Press, Freedom Communications, Knight-Ridder Tribune, the Walt Disney Co, Rockwell International, the Milken Foundation, the American Hospital Association, Entrepreneur Media, and USA TODAY.
Prior to establishing STILL Productions in 1994, Lechner worked
eight years as a staff photographer and weekend picture editor
with the downtown edition of the Los Angeles Times (1987-1994).
During this time she produced numerous award-winning projects
for the Times and gained recognition in Pulitzer Prize competition.
Before coming to the LA Times in 1987, Lechner was a staff photographer
with the Louisville (KY) Courier Journal & Times (1984-87).
In 1985, she was the Kentucky News Photographer of the Year and
runner-up in 1986.
While on the staff of the Jackson (MI) Citizen-Patriot (1981-84),
Lechner earned a first place writing award from Michigan UPI for
a documentary project she produced about displaced Goodyear workers.
Lechner began her journalism career at the Glenwood Springs (CO)
Post after graduating with a dual-sequence major in magazine writing/design
and photojournalism from the University of Missouri's School of
Journalism. Born 1958, she is a native of Saugerties, NY, a small
town in New York's Hudson Valley. Lechner resides in Laguna Beach,
CA.
Her documentation of minor league baseball in California has won
numerous awards, including merits of excellence from the California
Press Association, the National Photographer's Press Association,
and the Society of Newspaper Design. In 1994 Lechner published
the book, "IN THE CAL: Pastime Goes Primetime In California's
Minor Leagues. This project showed as part of a gallery exhibit
at the Autry Museum of Western Heritage in 1996, and was installed
as a 130+ print showcase at John Wayne (Orange County) Airport
from Nov 17, 04 - April 17, 05
Lechner's work in baseball includes documentation of women's baseball,
resulting in projects published in the Los Angeles Times, the
Orange County Register and USA TODAY's Baseball Weekly (1996).
Recently, Lechner published another baseball photo-documentary
project: "OUR TEAM-OUR DREAM: A Cubs Fan's Journey Into Baseball's
Greatest Romance," which is a visual narrative exploring
a fifteen-year span of the century-long saga of the hope and devotion
of Chicago Cubs fans. November, 2007 Triumph Books/Chicago (a
division of Random House.) Recognized as an accomplished visual
chronicler of our nation's pastime, Lechner often presents speeches,
media shows and exhibits to audiences about the love of the game.
